Welcome to Gathering Table, a faith community in the Anglican Church of Canada. We are a diverse, imperfect people, seeking to follow Jesus, develop healthy relationships, and be of service along the way.
Thinking about joining us? Here are the answers to a few questions about what you can expect.
What Time is Worship?
Sunday worship is at 10 AM. We recommend coming about 10 minutes early. One of our friendly greeters would be happy to answer any questions and help you a find a seat. You will receive a paper bulletin outlining the worship service – along with a warm welcome.
What should I wear?
We have no “dress code”. So if you are most comfortable in casual or formal clothes, or anything in between, that’s great.
Which entrance do I use?
You may access our building from our Pearl Street entrance (brown door), or from our barrier-free entrance (green door) next to our parking lot.
What programs do you have for children?
Children are most welcome! Early in the service the children are invited forward to hear a talk from the pastor. After this, the children go to Sunday school for their respective age group. Children return to their parents before communion. At their discretion, Moms and Dads may prefer to have their children remain with them. Parents with infants may make use the alcove next to the worship space where a rocking chair, toys and books are available.
What is your worship like?
As Anglicans, our worship services are centred on the liturgical seasons of the year (link) and we follow the order of services as prescribed in the Book of Alternative Services (link). We are a Eucharistic community meaning we share the bread and wine each Sunday. All are welcome to receive (link to Receiving Holy Communion). In addition, Scripture readings based on the common lectionary (link), a sermon, the Lord’s Prayer are included. The words of all components are shown on two large screens. Expect the service to last an hour and a quarter. To respect those who have sensitivities, we do not use incense.
Please note that our worship service is live-streamed to our on-line community. (Insert posted notice.)
Do you have music?
Oh yes! Our music team offers a blend of both contemporary and traditional music, accompanied variously by a pipe organ, electric piano, guitar or hand drum, or any combination of them! Words to the music are shown on our two screens to facilitate heads up worship.
Will I be expected to put money on the offering plate?
Please know that there are no expectations for anyone to make an offering – especially those who are a first time guest. We individually contribute to the financial needs of our faith community as discerned.
Do you have a coffee hour after worship?
You bet. This occurs in the parish hall, where tea, coffee, juice and some goodies are offered. We do our very best to provide nut-free snacks.
