Building Maintenance and Gardens

Building Maintenance

At Gathering Table, we are blessed with a beautiful church building on Pearl St. where we can gather to worship, serve and build relationships.  We also have a parking lot and lovely green spaces around the building.

Regular inspections are needed to determine and prioritize maintenance needs.  We are blessed to have a number of persons with many of the required skills (and cheerful hearts) to carry out these things.  For example, inspections of the fire extinguishers and emergency lighting are conducted monthly.  A team of snow shovelers ensure the entrances are clear of snow in the winter, and a team of lawn cutters ensure the grass is cut and trimmed nicely in the growing season.  Another crew sweeps the parking lot and driveway of winter sand.  A lot of us pick up the inevitable trash that seems to accumulate around the building and grounds.  These are important because the condition of the buildings and grounds speak silently, but visually quite loudly, about our stewardship.

Gardens

There are several gardens which are adorned with flowers and shrubs and are a feast for the eye (and nose sometimes) during the growing season.  They are located along our church buildings, fences and driveway, as well as at the back of the former rectory.  Over the years, these gardens have been tended by faithful folks with green thumbs, to the delight of passers-by and the birds and bees.
