Do you ever wonder what goes on “behind the scenes”?
The Altar Guild plays a vital role in the life of the church preparing and setting out the linen and vessels, and colours for the weekly services including Baptism, Weddings and Funeral or Memorial services.
What do we do?
- Prepare the church for each service
- Clean and care for linens
- Clean and care for brass and silver vessels
- Decorate the church on special occasions such as Harvest, Christmas, and Easter
- Arrange flowers
- Take flowers to the ill or the homebound parishioners
- Members meet approximately four times a year to plan for upcoming seasons
- All members take part in special activities such as decorating the church, making palm crosses etc. along with other interested members of the parish.
Why do we do it?
- “contribute to God’s ministry”
- “beautifying the church”
- “interest in the meaning of the symbolism”
- “fellowship”
What do we need?
- More people interested in this special ministry! We will provide personal “on the job” training for anyone interested in joining the Altar Guild.
